I’ve always liked taking photographs. It might be considered a hobby of mine or perhaps just an outlet of expression. To be honest, I’m not sure. I don’t like taking pictures just to capture a memory. That is somewhat futile to me. I like the emotions that the little 4×6 sheet of art possesses. There’s the happiness that you can capture in a smile or maybe the pain that can cause your own heart to throb when you witness tears. That piece of paper holds so much sentiment. The power behind a photo is often so overlooked. You cannot mask true emotions in the photo. Yes, you can fake a smile, but your eyes or your body language will reveal your true feelings.
I look at all these photos that I have taken throughout the years. They are all so different. I know I tend to shy away from photographs. It’s not that they aren’t enjoyable. But I think that the very reason why I take pictures is the same reason that I avoid them.
